Ton van den Bogert and Scott McLean co-authored the paper that won the O'Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM).

Hewett TE, Myer GD, Ford KR, Heidt, RS, Colosimo A, McLean SG, van den Bogert AJ, Paterno M, Succop, P: Biomechanical Measures of Neuromuscular Control and Valgus Loading of the Knee Predict ACL Injury Risk in Female Athletes: A Prospective Study.

The paper was presented in June at the AOSSM meeting in Quebec City, Canada, and will be published in the January 2005 issue of the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

Ton van den Bogert filed for a patent: “Apparatus for Assisting Body Movement” (Sept 10, 2004).

Tammy Owings’ husband, Nolan Holland, joined the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Program at Cleveland State University as an assistant professor.

Solomon Praveen (Brian Davis Lab) successfully defended his Ph.D. at Cleveland State University in July. His research was titled “Fluid-Solid Interactions in Cancellous Bone.” He completed his research in four years and is now doing post-doctoral work at Drexel University.

Guang Yue has been appointed a regular member in the NIH study section on Motor Function, Speech and Rehabilitation. He has a four-year appointment (July 2004 – June 2008) to review grants.
